The Japan Private Equity Fund Industry Landscape 2027 maps the major private equity firms active in Japan, grouped into categories such as Independent, Global, Financial Group Affiliates, Regional Bank Affiliates, Trading Company Affiliates and Regional Specialists. It also sets out each firm's fund sizes, from its first fund to its latest, based on publicly available information. Data as of September 28, 2026.

Firms are listed alphabetically within each category, with firms that have closed their Japan office listed last. Independent firms are grouped into three tiers by fund size.
Each row shows the Japan-related funds a GP has raised, from its first fund to its most recent. The number in each circle is the fund number. Click a row for fund-level detail and sources.
Hollow, dotted circles indicate amounts other than a final close (target sizes, estimates and interim closes) and are labeled accordingly. Years generally reflect the year of first close, or the year of final close where the first-close date has not been disclosed. Amounts reflect total commitments at final close.
Compiled from publicly available information that could be verified. Coverage may be incomplete; please let us know of any errors.
Where a global GP has no Japan-dedicated fund, its pan-Asian or global fund is shown instead. These figures do not represent a Japan allocation and are not directly comparable with domestic funds.
All amounts are shown in US dollars. Yen-denominated funds are converted at a fixed reference rate of $1 = ¥160, the same rate used for the Japanese edition, with the original yen amount shown in brackets in the detail view. The reference rate does not reflect exchange rates at the time of fundraising.
Drag to adjust the scale. Slide left to compare domestic mid-market funds, or all the way right to include mega funds such as JIC and Carlyle.
